TWIG 39: Stick Blender

TWIG 39: Stick Blender

During my weekly quests to find different indie games to share with you all, I’ll often stumble upon some very bizarre game concepts before settling on something which I feel is worthy of our ‘This Week’s Indie Game’ title.

Today has been no exception; the only difference being that one of the bizarre games I discovered today was also so good that it would have been rude of me not to share it with you.

Picture the scene: you are a giant, evil food blender, sitting in the middle of the countryside, minding your own business when you find yourself under attack from a load of stick men and charging cows.

The only way to protect yourself is to encase your attackers in a bubble so they float up in to the air, toss them into your chamber and watch as the blades transform them in to a bloody, beefy, stick man smoothie.

Keep going until either you’re full up, or until you’ve been damaged beyond repair. As you move on to each level, the waves of attacks will become ever more crazy, including air attacks by jetpack-wearing cows.

And a friendly word of advice to all stick men out there in this bizarre world: never stand directly underneath a jetpack-wearing cow, as you’ll almost certainly receive a rather nasty pat on the head.

GOTW: Ignite Reusable Hand Warmers

Ignite Reusable Hand WarmersAlthough winter should now be coming to an end, this year it feels as if it has only just arrived.

After a few relatively mild months, it seems that the snow and plummeting temperatures now have the country, and most of Europe, by the short and curlies. And if, like me, you are struggling to keep yourself warm when you have to go outside, our Gadget of the Week should help.

This set of two Ignite Hand Warmers are small enough to fit in your pockets or inside a pair of gloves, providing you with your own private heat source to help keep Jack Frost from biting at your fingers.

The hand warmers each contain a small metal disc which, when clicked a few times, triggers a chemical reaction causing the liquid contents to crystallize and heat up to a toastie 55°C (131°F).

Once back indoors, the hand warmers can be placed in boiling water for 5-10 minutes to re-liquidise the contents, ready to be used next time you venture outside!

TWIG 38: Ninja Painter

TWIG 38: Ninja PainterDo you ever feel like you’re stuck in a dead-end job, missing out on the chance to enjoy your true vocation?

This is the problem the character from This Week’s Indie Game faces.

You see, he’s spent his life training as a Ninja, but secretly he desires a more peaceful life as a painter and decorator. It’s the age-old story.

In the aptly named Ninja Painter, travel around the city of Megapolis, helping the Ninja paint ever more elaborate buildings, in this fun platform puzzler.

The first few levels train you up and will seem like child’s play, but don’t dismiss the game too quickly as later levels are much more of a challenge.

GOTW: LEGO Sort & Store Head Sorter

LEGO Head Sorter: Sort and StoreThis Gadget of the Week may not be able to help you sort your own head out, but it’s great for sorting, storing and transporting your kids (or your own) LEGO bricks.

Standing at a whopping 30cm tall and 25cm in diameter, this giant LEGO Man head makes light work of sorting bricks into different sizes. Simply place your bricks in the top, give the head a shake and the small and medium bricks will all fall to the lower levels.

The Head Sorter will sort and store around 1000 LEGO bricks and all this time saved sorting, of course, leads to more time for building!

And when you’re on the move, the built-in carry handle makes it easy for your LEGO to come with you.
